A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Cut and Sew Jersey / Knit Designer to join the team of a forward-thinking fashion manufacturer. This permanent role offers a unique opportunity for a creative and commercially minded cut and sew knit designer to shape a new category across dresses and tops, combining trend awareness with technical expertise. Based 5 days a week in the London office, you will work closely with high street supermarkets and volume retailers across the UK and Europe, bringing innovative knitted pieces to life with a commercial handwriting and a strong focus on short lead-time production.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and designing commercial and trend-led cut and sew knit collections with a focus on dresses and tops.
  • Collaborating with the sales and account teams to understand client needs and market trends.
  • Creating detailed technical sketches and specifications for production.
  • Staying ahead of current market trends and translating them into commercially successful designs.
  • Conducting comp shopping trips and trend research to identify new product opportunities, key shapes, colours, fabrics, and emerging trends.
  • Sourcing fabrics and trims.
  • Managing multiple projects from concept to delivery, maintaining high standards and deadlines.
  • Working within short lead times across fast-paced retail accounts.

Person specification:

  • Proven experience designing cut and sew knit products with a substantial portfolio showcasing dresses, tops, and trend-led commercial pieces.
  • Excellent awareness of high street fashion trends and the ability to incorporate them into commercial designs.
  • Experience working with Turkish factories would be advantageous, although not essential.
  • Must have excellent Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
  • Strong computer skills with confidence using design and production software programs.
  • Creative flair paired with a keen eye for commercial viability.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across accounts and internal teams.
  • Ability to interpret client briefs and translate them into innovative commercial designs.
