Position: Restaurant General Manager

We are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant General Manager to lead an independently owned, recently fully refurbished Mexican cuisine restaurant and cocktail bar in Streatham Hill. The opportunity is full time, 48 hours per week working 5 days on and 2 days off, requires you to be fully flexible, hands‑on and on shift over the busy service periods.

About us:

El Chico’s, an independent brand established almost 30 years ago, has recently refurbished the entire business from the ground up. The restaurant now seats up to 150 guests in the main restaurant and extends to an outdoor terrace area for up to 100 guests. The BOH comprises four to five chefs and a FOH team of eight to ten servers and cocktail bartenders. The kitchen is open from 12:00 noon to 23:30 on weekdays and just after midnight on weekends with the cocktail bar open just after midnight to 1 am.

You must be:

  • Passionate, knowledgeable and love what you do.
  • Natural leader, coach and mentor, hands‑on and lead from the front attitude.
  • A great communicator and team builder, able to build relationships at all levels.
  • Be self‑aware, able to take on challenges and understand the expectation from your team above and below.
  • Accomplished in known bars and restaurants, consistent and accomplished in previous roles
  • Have developed your career in hospitality from role to role

Be able to:

  • Demonstrate your ability to train, develop and lead a team.
  • Understand brand and values and be able to define a values‑led business.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and self‑awareness.
  • Lead a large team and demonstrate how you will deliver a high standard.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the relative PnL areas to your role.
  • Understand challenges and how to drive performance day‑to‑day.
