The role
We are seeking a results-driven Head of Business Development to spearhead growth and accelerate revenue generation across their key market in education.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in consultative selling, successfully leading a national, multi-sector sales and account management team, coupled with strong leadership and commercial acumen. You will be responsible for ensuring that the business development colleagues are fully supported, motivated, coached, and capable of successfully winning new customers whilst retaining and nurturing existing customers. This role is critical to shaping market positioning and driving long-term, sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Customer Engagement team to lead the end-to-end sales process from prospecting to closing deals
- Grow and maintain a sales pipeline across all sectors and customer/prospect segments – ensuring accurate forecasting and pipeline management.
- Set, monitor, and achieve ambitious sales, revenue, customer retention targets, KPI’s, ensuring exceptional customer experiences are achieved.
- Support new sales and account management teams achieve their potential – sales coaching, mentoring and support to achieve individual performance measures.
- Mentor and guide team members in best practices for consultative selling and relationship management.
- Cultivate and manage strong, long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Working with the team to identify effective cross-selling, value-added solutions
Key Requirements
- Experience building, leading, and mentoring sales, account management, or business development teams – ability to inspire, motivate, and nurture talent
- Track record of working in consultative, business-to-business sales environments – working with commercial and public sector organisations
- Experience working with CRM tools, Sales analytics, forecasting, and pipeline management platforms
- Data fluency and use of KPIs
