The Maintenance Gas Engineer will provide both planned and reactive gas maintenance across a large pub group across Yorkshire. The role involves delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault finding, and installation works on a wide range of domestic gas systems and associated assets, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Repairs, and Installation works on systems including (but not limited to):
    • Commercial gas boilers
    • Heating systems and pipework
    • Gas-fired water heaters
    • Gas-fired air handling units
    • Radiant tube heaters
    • Associated controls and safety devices
  • Carry out gas safety checks, testing, and certification in line with Gas Safe regulations.
  • Fault find and repair gas systems and associated equipment.
  • Provide on-call service as part of a call-out rota.
  • Compile accurate quotations for installation and repair works, including materials and labour requirements.
  • Travel to various sites as required to fulfil allocated tasks.
  • Follow instructions from Line Manager regarding scope and scheme of works.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Monitor and update the CAFM system with work progress and completion details.
  • Engage with Health & Safety and Learning & Development forums to remain compliant with site safety regulations and maintain up-to-date training.

Qualifications:

  • ACS Commercial Gas qualifications (CCN1, COCN1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A/1, or equivalent)
  • ACS Domestic/Commercial Gas qualifications CCN1 (core safety) - essential, CENWAT1 (boilers) essential, HTR1 (gas fires) - essential, COCN1 (core commercial) essential or COCDN1 (changeover) essential, CIGA1 (commercial indirect fired) - desirable, CDGA1 (commercial direct fired) - desirable, TPC1A (pipework testing) or equivalent - desirable.
  • Commercial Catering qualifications (COMCAT 1 - 5) desirable (training provided)
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating (preferred)
  • Current Gas Safe Registration (company-supported)

Experience:

  • Proven experience in gas maintenance, servicing, fault finding, and installation across commercial and/or domestic environments.
  • Experience with HVAC and associated controls is desirable.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of gas systems safely and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • IT literate (able to use CAFM or similar systems).

  • Strong customer focus with a commitment to delivering high standards.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
