Purpose of the post
To manage and co-ordinate a team of staff including volunteers, in the delivery of high quality, needs led family support services, as described in the Sure Start Business Plan. To deliver programmes and carry out home visits as agreed with the Sure Start Manager. To actively work in partnership with local agencies to contribute to the development of the Sure Start Shantallow project and other related Shantallow Community Support Partnership business.
Responsibilities
- To support, manage and lead a staff team including volunteers in the delivery of a range of centre, home and outreach based family support, health promotion and antenatal services in response to the needs of local families.
- To facilitate monthly supervision, annual appraisals and team meetings.
- To facilitate and co-ordinate programme plans and allocate work load/tasks to staff team to ensure the overall aims and objectives of Sure Start and Business Plan targets are met.
- Assist Sure Start Manager as required with the Sure Start Business Plan, Annual Action Plan and Quarterly Monitoring Reports.
- To co-ordinate the delivery of a wide range of family support programmes and services including group work and one to one.
- To plan and deliver programmes and carry out home visits as agreed with the Sure Start Manager.
- To liaise closely with the other key staff in the effective co-ordination of the Family Support services.
- To participate in recruitment and selection process and facilitate inductions for Sure Start staff and volunteers as required.
- To take an active role in the Management Team of Family Centre and Sure Start Shantallow.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree or professional qualification in Health, Education, Social Care or Early Years.
- A minimum of two years’ post qualifying paid management experience in the family support sector including the line management of staff.
- Paid employment working in the family support sector delivering family support programmes to parents and/or to parents and children.
- Experience of working in a Sure Start project.
- Experience of the use and implementation of Outcomes Star.
