Pre-Construction Manager | Glasgow, Scotland
Working for a leading Tier 1 construction and infrastructure delivery partner on a portfolio of projects across Scotland’s Central Belt.
Location: Glasgow, Scotland (On-site)
Salary: £100,000 – £120,000 basic plus extensive package.
Role Description
This role sits within a specialist infrastructure team delivering large-scale projects for the energy sector across Scotland’s Central Belt and beyond. As Pre-Construction Manager, you will lead the bid process for high-profile frameworks and standalone projects, ensuring submissions are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest possible standard.
You will manage all aspects of bids, develop winning strategies, and provide leadership on major tender opportunities in areas such as high voltage substations, HVDC converter stations, and OHL works. The role involves close collaboration with planners, engineers, and commercial teams to produce technically robust, commercially competitive tenders.
Key responsibilities could include but are not limited to:
- Leading the preparation, management, and coordination of pre-construction activities for infrastructure projects
- Developing competitive bid strategies tailored to framework and standalone opportunities
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary input from engineering, planning, and commercial teams
- Managing larger, complex tenders directly from prequalification to submission
- Ensuring compliance with client requirements and technical specifications
- Participating in bid reviews and providing subject matter expertise during red and final reviews
Required Experience
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering)
- Proven experience in pre-construction management within the energy sector
- Strong track record in bidding for infrastructure projects such as substations, HVDC, OHL, or grid-related works
- Experience working on major frameworks or large multi-disciplinary projects
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
