Salary: £100,000 – £120,000 + Car / Allowance + Bonus + Package

The Opportunity

A Tier 1 contractor is seeking a Project Director to lead the delivery of major power infrastructure projects across Scotland, supporting long-term frameworks with key transmission clients. You will be working on large-scale grid reinforcement and upgrade schemes forming part of the UK’s Net Zero strategy, delivering critical improvements to the transmission network.

Project Scope

  • Projects are focused on high-voltage transmission infrastructure, typically including:
  • 400kV / 275kV / 132kV substations (new build and upgrades)
  • Overhead Line (OHL) construction and refurbishment
  • Underground cable (UGC) installations and grid connections
  • Integration of renewable energy into the transmission network

Typical schemes range from £100m to £1bn+, delivered through multi-year frameworks across Scotland.

Role Overview

As Project Director, you will act as the Accountable Lead for project delivery, responsible for:

  • Full lifecycle delivery: ECI → Design → Construction → Commissioning
  • Commercial performance, programme management, and risk
  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, and operations
  • Managing client and stakeholder relationships within regulated environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of £100m+ power projects as No.1 on the scheme
  • Drive programme performance across design, procurement, and construction
  • Manage interfaces across substations, OHL, and cable packages
  • Oversee NEC contract delivery, including risk and cost control
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, consultants, and supply chain
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, HSEQ, and transmission standards

Required Experience

  • Proven delivery of major infrastructure projects (£100m+)
  • Experience within one or more sectors: Power & Energy (preferred), Utilities, Rail, Highways, Aviation, Environmental / Flood Defence
  • Experience within a Tier 1 contractor or major project environment
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
  • Demonstrable leadership of large, multi-disciplinary teams

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in Transmission & Distribution (T&D)
  • Exposure to OHL, substations, or high-voltage infrastructure
