Location: Motherwell, with hybrid working and travel to project sites across Scotland
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 + company car or car allowance + bonus
About the role
We are seeking a 4D BIM Engineer to support a portfolio of major power infrastructure projects across Scotland.
The portfolio includes substations, overhead lines and underground cables. Some overhead line routes can extend for more than 100km across varied terrain. This role will use 4D modelling to help teams plan and understand construction across these wide areas, including the sequence of work, programme durations, access and site logistics.
You will work with planning, engineering, design, construction and logistics teams. You will help turn complex programmes and design information into clear visual plans that support project decisions from tender and early planning through construction and close-out.
Key responsibilities
- Create 4D sequences to support site logistics planning and the management of construction activities.
- Develop 4D simulations for tender presentations to show proposed construction methods, site constraints and logistics
- Prepare animations that compare planned programme dates with actual progress, supporting project reviews, commercial discussions and close‑out.
- Edit video content to improve the quality and clarity of digital presentations.
- Develop and deliver training to help planners and 3D modellers build their 4D planning skills.
- Train colleagues to use common data environments and relevant design software, including Navisworks and Revit.
- Update Revit layouts to reflect client feedback and design changes.
- Link 3D models with programme information to show how the works are planned to progress over time.
- Experience in 4D BIM, 4D planning or digital construction on major projects.
- Practical experience linking 3D models to construction programmes.
- Understanding of construction sequencing, programme logic and delivery methods.
- Ability to work with engineering, design, planning and construction teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex work clearly.
- Working in the Infrastructure or Construction sector
This is an opportunity to apply 4D BIM to a varied portfolio of power projects across Scotland. Your work will help project teams understand how construction will progress across complex sites and long infrastructure routes, and support better planning, coordination and communication.
As the team grows, there will be opportunities for progression and managing teams, from both a people management and skill development aspect.
PLEASE NOTE
Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK, there are no Visa opportunities for this position.
