Location: Bath
Hybrid working: 3 days office / site, 2 days working from home
The Resolute Group are working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor’s Water division to identify and secure a Design Manager to work in Bath, supporting Wessex Water AMP8 projects. The Design Manager role is the technical interface between the design consultancy, Tier 1 / Main Contractor, and Wessex Water. You will manage technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring designs meet Wessex Water standards, specifications, and asset requirements, and are delivered correctly on site. You will be involved from the design stage through to construction, working closely with the project delivery teams to review buildability, manage design risks, and address any technical issues highlighted during delivery. Projects are typically clean water and wastewater schemes, including pumping stations, treatment works upgrades, pipelines, network reinforcements, and associated MEICA and civils works.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical interface between design consultants, the Tier 1 contractor, and Wessex Water, ensuring designs are compliant, coordinated, and buildable across AMP8 projects
- Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams, overseeing the design process from optioneering through detailed design and construction support
- Ensure compliance with Wessex Water standards, regulatory requirements, and CDM regulations, leading design risk and constructability reviews
- Manage design change, technical queries, and interface with commercial and delivery teams to control programme and cost impacts
- Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes, reviewing and approving design deliverables to ensure high technical and safety standards
You don’t need to be a full-time Design Manager to be considered for this position. Looking at an experienced Co-ordinator looking to step up or a Technical project manager looking to develop in design-oriented project management.
Required Experience
- Degree qualified, ideally in Civil engineering or related subject.
- Post-graduation experience of working in a Design coordinator position on heavy Civil Engineering projects, such as Highways, Rail, Water, Environmental, Flood defence etc.
