The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) Charity supports all members of the REME Family in a myriad of ways, which include direct monetary grants to individuals and enhancing the professional and social fabric of the Corps. We do this with dignity, without fuss and usually behind the scenes.
The Benevolence Administrator coordinates and records the welfare process and is directly responsible to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for providing a professional welfare service to all serving and retired members of REME and their families. The Benevolence Administrator will liaise with the CEO and Military Welfare Staff regarding Welfare cases.
Key Responsibilities- Process welfare applications received either via MOSAIC or other channels. Ensure all are assessed for need.
- Liaise with the Royal British Legion (RBL) and the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) when required.
- Primary point of contact for all REME Benevolence Fund queries.
- Maintain a strong relationship with Military Welfare Staff.
- Maintain detailed electronic records of all grants made and produce monthly updates and statistical reports for the CEO and REME Charity Board of Trustees.
- Send all approved grants to the finance department for payment within 2 working days.
- Complete the annual ABF return.
- Process all returned grants and ensure that they are logged with finance.
- Answer email and telephone enquiries.
- Liaise with Royal Commonwealth Ex-Servicemen’s League to assist with aid for overseas veterans.
- Coordinate the day-to-day running of the Welfare Office, ensuring business is conducted in a professional and effective manner.
- Ensure all casualty notifications are passed onto the correct person and are dealt with.
- Track the current status of all active welfare cases and update the relevant databases.
- Coordinate the attendance of all Welfare/Hospital visits with Military Welfare Staff.
- Liaise with Battalions to ensure we have the correct information.
- Ensure the correct people attend the visit.
- Primary POC for reporting of deaths.
- Coordinate the attendance of buglers and Standard Bearers for funerals when required.
- Gather the information from Battalions/Units/Funeral Homes/Funeral Directors and ensure the correct people attend the funeral as requested by the families.
- Liaise with Army Bands for attendance details.
- Send out all Christmas cards from the REME Charity and related entities.
- Process grant applications using the MOSAIC system, deciding grant amounts and eligibility of grants in line with Charity guidelines.
- Communicate efficiently with relevant Battalions/Units when applications for either financial or other support are required by a serving member of REME, ensuring swift resolution and support.
- A key function of this post is the recording and maintenance of the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database.
- The Benevolence Administrator records all new applications for the Charity’s Payroll Giving scheme and produces disbursement reports.
- Check records for eligibility and amend applications accordingly.
