The Health, Safety & Quality Co-ordinator’s role is key to supporting the business and it’s employees.

You are responsible for ensuring compliance is met for the organisation in respect of all Training, Accreditations, H&SQE & Environmental aspects internally & externally.

Maintain an effective and efficient working environment for both office-based staff and engineers to carry out their duties.

Key Tasks

QMS

Maintain, the company’s accreditations, including but not limited to, ISO:9001, ISO:14001, OHSAS:45001, CHAS, Alcumus, Safecontractor, NSI, WEEE etc, ensuring that full compliance is met by all employees.

Be responsible for the ongoing internal and external audits of the Company accreditations, ensuring senior management are updated on any changes.

Ensure key customers have up-to-date documentation e.g., Insurance policies, QMS certificates, accreditations, etc

H&S

Build and maintain relationships with client H&S managers with meetings, reporting on any changes or improvements required.

Be responsible for keeping up to date with H&S legislation, implementing changes where required for the Companies H&S policy, including direct training to employees and out-sourcing arrangements when required.

Ensure the companies fire risk assessments, emergency lighting & building fire alarm systems are regularly tested and documented, along with in-house periodic testing and drop test requirements.

Implement and maintain Emergency Plan, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plan.

Carry out investigations into any accidents and near-miss incidents, record findings. Inform the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of accidents or incidents that require notification and record keeping.

Oversee and review RAMS ensuring they are up to date and customer relevant.

Recommend control measures and advise on standards of PPE issued to employees.

Review engineers tooling, with regards to maintenance, recommendation of safer/more appropriate equipment. E.g., rod cutter/Unistrut slayer.

Ensure strategic toolbox talks on H&S standards are met & changes to legislation etc are carried out and documented.

Maintain the company’s assets register e.g., ladder inspections, harness and lanyard inspections, engineers’ equipment PAT testing and report findings into Senior Management Team meeting.

Oversee and report on vehicle condition checks, including reporting on the company vehicles behaviour, driving statistics (tracker software monitoring reports). Liaise with Insurance Broker/Company, on any matters to resolution.

Carry out regular onsite visits to ensure the engineering workforce is compliant and report findings.

Training

Ensure training matrix is current and up to date and arrange when necessary, training courses for employees, including any in-house training.

Ensure key customers have up-to-date training certificates for engineers/key staff e.g., 18 th Edition amendments.

Act as the company’s liaison with training providers.

Maintain gov.uk manage apprentice registration and apprentice management.

Be a part of the apprentice training and development programme, document and update HR Director on changes and developments.

Maintain training folders for employees.

Subcontractors

Ensure subcontractors maintain their required qualifications and accreditation e.g. ECS.

Maintain a subcontractor’s log with valid insurance certification, IPAF, PASMA, NDA’s, etc

HR

Assist management in ensuring that processes and procedures are carried out and personnel are compliant.

Arrange and manage personnel DBS/Security checks, along with any other required vetting clients may require.

Attend disciplinary meetings, where required, to assist management.

General Tasks

Ensure the warehouse and offices are kept to the standard required, taking action to rectify untidiness or non-compliance accordingly.

Attend and input into meetings associated with this post and report on all accreditation and health and safety matters.

Take ownership of assigned tasks through to completion & provide reports where required.

In addition to the above, the Health & Safety Co-ordinator shall carry out other duties as may from time to time be required by the business.
