The Visual Arts department seeks a dedicated and dynamic teacher of Art. The post is suitable for all teachers who are experienced or in the early stages of their career. It offers the challenge of working in a large school and the opportunity to teach GCSE and A Level. Art is a popular subject throughout all key stages and students enjoy their lessons.

The facilities within the department are superb, including three classrooms, a dedicated 6th‑form area, a photo studio, a darkroom, a large store‑area, a top‑floor location with great views, and a large patio‑balcony area for outdoor work. The curriculum is broad. At KS3 students work in both 2D and 3D. They work individually and in groups through a curriculum that focuses on skills, creativity and artistic expression. Painting, printing, ceramics, sculpture, photography and mixed media are all tackled, together with projects that have open, issues‑based themes to promote real expression, artistic care and thought about broader world issues.

Responsibilities

  • Teach GCSE and A Level art courses.
  • Work with students in KS3, KS4 and 6th‑form, supporting them in both 2D and 3D media.
  • Develop and deliver lessons that cultivate skills, creativity and artistic expression.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department to continually reflect on and update schemes of work.
  • Plan and facilitate gallery visits and museum trips, such as the recent Tate Modern visit with Year 11.
  • Organise community projects and in‑school workshops with visiting artists and photographers.
  • Encourage students to participate in art clubs and after‑school studio sessions.

Benefits

We offer a highly competitive benefits package, including excellent pay, a generous pension scheme, enhanced parental leave, reduced gym membership for our on‑site facilities, discounted nursery fees, a laptop, and access to a car leasing scheme. After six months, staff also benefit from Westfield Benefits, providing discounts on shopping, travel and holidays, as well as a free Health Cash Plan covering dental, optical and other treatments. We offer three additional INSET days for planning, a guaranteed personal day each year, exceptional training and career development, and a culture that genuinely invests in its people.

The Regis School and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
