The role

As a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a team of one or more operatives, working closely together carrying out gardening and grounds maintenance duties.

You will also be expected to provide advice to residents, colleagues and clients.

Your key responsibilities will include but aren’t limited to

  • Carrying out gardening, grounds maintenance and other general repairs.
  • Responsible for line management of one or more team members.
  • Ensuring safe working practices for both you and your team.
  • Keeping appropriate records of the teams’ activities.
  • Ensuring equipment, vehicles and machinery allocated are used and maintained effectively and efficiently.
  • Upholding excellent customer service standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and the groups health and safety policies.

  • The right fit
  • Demonstrable experience of horticulture and/or landscape maintenance is essential.
  • You have at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • You must have a full UK driving license.
  • You have a pesticide application certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture procedures and the safe use of equipment.
  • You have the ability to organise and coordinate a team to achieve specific goals in line with deadlines.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service including strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience of keeping accurate records.
  • Sufficient numeracy and literacy skills.
  • You’re able to deliver training to team members when required.
