The Role:

A Transport & Compliance Manager is required to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a busy fleet consisting of HGVs and FLTs. This role is central to ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, regulatory requirements are met, and operational performance is continuously improved. This is not a transport planning role - the focus is on compliance, maintenance oversight, and fleet performance management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the company's fleet, ensuring safe and efficient operation
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to maximise vehicle uptime
  • Investigate vehicle damage and take appropriate corrective action
  • Agree, implement, and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with equipment suppliers
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance with external vendors, ensuring cost-effective solutions
  • Monitor fuel usage and introduce strategies to improve fuel efficiency
  • Track and analyse fleet data including mileage, maintenance costs, and driver performance
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport regulations and safety standards
  • Develop and enforce fleet management policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to drivers on safe vehicle operation and compliance
  • Manage vehicle inventory including acquisition, disposal, and replacement

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Transport Manager CPC qualification
  • Proven experience in fleet management or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair processes
  • Knowledge of relevant transport regulations and safety standards
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Desirable:

  • Minimum 5 years' fleet management experience
