We are seeking a Design & Development Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation operating within the hydraulics and fluid power sector. This is a permanent, full-time role offering the opportunity to work on the design and development of bespoke hydraulic products and systems used across industrial and mobile machinery applications.
This position is primarily an office-based CAD role but also involves hands-on engineering activity and close collaboration with manufacturing, procurement, quality and production teams.
Responsibilities:- Design and development of hydraulic components, pressure vessels, manifolds, power units and complete hydraulic systems
- Creation of 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- Supporting products through the full lifecycle from concept to production
- Liaising with customers and internal teams to translate requirements into practical, compliant engineering solutions
- Providing technical support to production, assembly and testing activities
- Managing engineering documentation including BOMs, drawing revisions and compliance records
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer (HNC/HND minimum, degree desirable)
- Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within industrial or mobile machinery environments desirable not essential
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred, but equivalent considered)
- Solid hydraulics experience, including hydraulic components and system design
- Background in sectors such as construction equipment, mobile plant, industrial machinery or off-highway vehicles (e.g. JCB, Caterpillar or similar)
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Practical, hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills
