Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (shift rota)
We are currently recruiting a Facilities Operative (Caretaker) on a temporary contract to support a busy college environment in Middleton. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting the safe and effective operation of the site.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out minor repairs and basic maintenance
- Porterage duties across the college
- External cleaning of the college grounds
- Snow and ice clearance, including gritting external areas when required
- Removal of refuse both internally and externally
- Manual handling duties to support college events such as open days and examinations, including setting up furniture and equipment
- Undertaking any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as required
Please note: this role does not include key-holding responsibilities.
About You
- Previous experience in a caretaking or facilities role (education environment desirable but not essential)
- Practical experience in the duties listed above
- Educated to a good standard of English and Maths
- Computer literate, confident using a PC, Outlook, and helpdesk-style software (training provided)
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
Hours & Shift Pattern
36 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern:
- Week 1: 06:15
- Week 2: 12:00 (3 days per week)
- 13:00 (2 days per week to support evening classes)
