Our renowned, family-run Civil Engineering SME is now looking for an experienced Bid Manager due to continued growth, or someone ready to step up into a Bid Manager role. The Bid Manager will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of high-quality tenders across public and private sector civil engineering projects. Working closely with directors, estimators and project managers, this Bid Manager role plays a key part in converting opportunities into successful submissions. Around 25% of the role focuses on marketing, including brochures, social media content and visual marketing materials that support bids and strengthen the brand. The role will be office-based in Ashbourne for the first 4–6 months during training, before moving to hybrid working.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end bid management, from opportunity tracking and go/no-go decisions through to submission and post-bid review.
- Manage all PQQ and ITT submissions, ensuring compliance, quality and timely delivery.
- Develop bid strategies and win themes, coordinating technical, commercial and operational inputs.
- Take ownership of bid writing and narrative development.
- Manage bid programmes, deadlines, clarifications, risk registers and submissions via client portals.
- Produce marketing materials including brochures, capability statements and project profiles.
- Manage digital marketing activity (website and LinkedIn) with basic performance reporting.
- Mentor and support the Bid Writer, encouraging continuous development.
This role is ideal for a Bid Manager looking to broaden their responsibilities or take the next step in their career.
Key requirements:
- Experience as a Bid Manager or in a similar bidding role within construction or civil engineering (or ready to step up).
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Confident managing multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
- Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with PDF editing tools and Canva is desirable.
