On behalf of our client, an award winning engineering manufacturer, we are recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing / Production / BOM Engineer to work closely with their Technical and Operations team on the implementation of their new ERP system.
The purpose of this role is to review, validate, standardise, and construct Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work instructions to ensure they are accurate, consistent, and production-ready prior to migration into the new ERP. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth ERP go-live and to improving manufacturing efficiency, data integrity, and cross-functional alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing BOMs, sub-assemblies, and part structures for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability
- Create and restructure production-ready BOMs aligned to standard assembly processes
- Ensure correct component sequencing, quantities, revisions, and effectivity controls
- Rationalise part numbers and eliminate duplication where appropriate
- Review and improve existing work instructions to ensure clarity, consistency, and usability on the shop floor
- Develop standardised assembly and test routings aligned to best manufacturing practice
- Ensure instructions reflect actual build processes, tooling, fixtures, and quality checkpoints
- Work with the ERP implementation team to validate data structures, naming conventions, and configuration logic
- Support data cleansing, UAT testing, and post-migration validation
- Act as a subject-matter expert for manufacturing data within the ERP project
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and ERP consultants
- Ensure all BOMs and instructions align with quality, regulatory, and traceability requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve standardisation, efficiency, and repeatability in manufacturing processes
- Support the establishment of best practice for ongoing BOM ownership post-ERP go-live
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, or BOM Engineer role
- Strong hands-on experience creating and maintaining complex multi-level BOMs
- Experience preparing manufacturing data for ERP / MRP systems (Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Strong understanding of assembly processes, routings, and shop-floor operations
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
