Our client based in Burnley has a reputation for innovation and they are a highly successful global player in their chosen industry. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to join their busy team.
The Job
- Support the Purchasing Officer in sourcing and purchasing components and general factory supplies ready for production.
- Ensure procurement activities align with company standards for quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data within the Microsoft NAV ERP system.
- Update records for lead times, prices, Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), and Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) across approximately 6,000 live line items.
- Assist in the monitoring and improvement of data accuracy to support inventory control and procurement planning.
- Assist in optimising deliveries to align with stores labour planning, ensuring goods are received in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with Stores and Logistics teams to minimise disruptions and enhance workflow.
- Manage the Returns to Supplier (RTS) process, including coordinating logistics, completing documentation, and maintaining communication with suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
- Track and report on return trends and support root cause analysis for recurring issues.
About you
- Experience in a procurement, supply chain or buyer role, preferably within a manufacturing industry.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft NAV (Navision) or similar ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of data accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with suppliers and internal departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply issues.
- Understanding of purchasing best practices and inventory optimisation techniques.
