Our client in Stockport, a leading supplier in their sector, is looking for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You will be responsible for all aspects of electrical repairs and maintenance of a wide and varied range of machinery including:

  • Fabric inspection & packing
  • Fabric cutting machines
  • Stenter ovens & associated peripherals (unwinders, coating heads, Pleva weight monitoring & rewind)
  • Fabric pleating
  • Lamination machines
  • Liquor mixing plant

The Job:

To maintain all electrical equipment on site including services, distribution, plant machinery and miscellaneous equipment in accordance with relevant current legislation and ensure that documentation and records are kept accordingly.

Electrical maintenance and repairs across a diverse range of machinery, including fabric inspection and packing equipment, fabric cutting machines, stenter ovens and associated peripherals, fabric pleating machinery, lamination equipment, and our liquor mixing plant.

The role will also include electrical installation work across the site such as installing armoured cabling for new machinery, lighting and power installations alongside completing PPM activities on factory services and equipment. You will also support the installation and commissioning of new plant and machinery.

To meet requirements of all departments in their daily operations by carrying out various electrical and miscellaneous works.

To be proactively involved in monitoring the condition of services and machinery reporting defects to the General Manager immediately.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To carry out portable / fixed appliance testing in line with current regulations and keep records accordingly.
  • Action specific work as detailed on maintenance/project request forms.
  • Diagnose and repair (where possible) electrical/mechanical faults that occur in the building services, plant, machinery and other electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with the training of apprentices and any other training needs of the maintenance team.
  • Ensure that all work by yourself is carried out in a safe manner, to an agreed standard and meets with current legislation.

About you:

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification.
  • Apprentice Trained (or equivalent).
  • Some basic Mechanical experience.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience of working in a factory environment.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition.
  • Electrical installation or Maintenance qualification.
