About The Role
As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will manage an assistant QS along with other Commercial Managers in the team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Commercial Teams standardised methodology to project margin maintenance when comparing to projects Budgeted margin, and reporting margin variances so action taken.
- Lead on the management of MU Major Projects and complex novated Clancy projects.
- Review of non-standard contractual terms (prior to signing) to ensure key operational delivery aspects reflected to best protect the business when delivering project scope.
- Instigate commercial procedures and training for the SGN and Cadent contracts, building a schedule of rates to ease pricing of variations.
- Accountable for ensuring Commercial Teams project billings are kept up to date across all regions, and variations proposed to customers timely and where appropriate so to utilise the T&Cs embedded within signed contract.
- Price review (RPI) variations and water infrastructure recharges form an integral task and in turn this role is accountable for ensuring these are embedded as BAU.
- Whereby quotations require a project cashflow due to project size, oversight and sign off is required on complex respective project cashflows.
- Monitoring of live project cashflows with Commercial Managers oversight against projected cashflow to ensure remains cash positive.
- Support and mentor Commercial Manager passing on knowledge of utilities industry.
- Ensuring the Commercial/QS Teams training and development is maintained.
- Collaborating with Operations and Finance to ensure Project Managers/Engineers are held accountable by the Commercial Team for their respective project margins.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with company Health and Safety procedures and policies.
- Ensuring consistency across the Commercial Team across all activities/processes is fundamental.
- Final checks on projects before handing over to PEs and implementation of a handover meeting.
- Collaborate and develop procedures to ensure that we have a clear understanding of what inclusions and exclusions within a project.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to manage requirements to match and exceed expectations, thus able to multi-task effectively to prioritise and manage workload.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the utilities industry so able to advise and utilise this knowledge.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a commercial manager or similar role and within similar industry.
- Proven experience within a role encompassing management of commercial contracts & maximising project profitability.
- Prior track record of managing and developing a team.
- Knowledge of Standard forms of Agreement (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
- Experience of Financial project margin & project cashflow forecasting.
- Qualifications/accreditations for MACostE.
- Experience of AX system is desirable.
