We are currently recruiting for an experienced Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to join a busy workshop based at Gatwick Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation supporting the maintenance and reliability of critical airport ground support equipment.

Working within a professional engineering team, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of GSE to ensure maximum equipment availability and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of Ground Support Equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Complete reactive breakdown repairs both in the workshop and airside where required.
  • Conduct inspections, servicing and safety checks in line with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, maintenance records and inspection documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Support equipment commissioning and testing following repairs.
  • Work collaboratively with operations teams to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety legislation, airport regulations and company procedures.

  • Mobile generators and ancillary airport equipment

Candidate Requirements

We're looking for candidates with experience maintaining heavy vehicles, plant machinery, commercial vehicles or Ground Support Equipment.

  • Previous experience as a GSE Technician, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter, PSV Technician, Agricultural Engineer or similar mechanical engineering role.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work shifts and participate in an on-call rota where required.
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Airside driving permit (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Previous airport or aviation engineering experience.
  • LOLER, IPAF or forklift qualifications.
  • HGV licence.
