Overview
Our client, Libraries NI, is currently seeking to recruit a Building Supervisor to join their team in Strabane on a temporary ongoing basis. This role involves supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of the building while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for library users.
Pay Rate
£13.21 per hour
£20.45 per hour (Saturday rate)
Hours of Work
This role operates on a 2-week rota, averaging 25 hours per week:
- Week One (25 hours)
- Monday: Not scheduled
- Tuesday: 13:00 - 17:15
- Wednesday: 13:00 - 17:15
- Thursday: 14:30 - 20:15 (30-minute break)
- Friday: 13:00 - 17:15
- Saturday: 09:15 - 16:45 (30-minute break)
- Week Two (25 hours)

- Tuesday: 12:45 - 17:15
- Wednesday: 12:45 - 17:15
- Thursday: 14:45 - 20:15 (30-minute break)
- Friday: 12:45 - 17:15

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the security of the premises, including opening/closing, key holding, and monitoring alarms/CCTV
- Carry out cleaning and facilities duties, maintaining high standards
- Operate and monitor heating, lighting, and building systems
- Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
- Manage deliveries, porterage, room set‑ups, and waste disposal
- Complete administrative duties, including record keeping and reporting faults
- Support health & safety compliance, including COSHH regulations
- Respond to incidents and emergencies as required
- Provide basic library support duties, including book care
- Undertake driving duties where required
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Requirements
- Full, valid driving licence
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role (e.g. Caretaker or Building Supervisor)
- Experience of building security, including key holding duties
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning equipment
- Aware of Health & Safety regulations (including COSHH/CLP)
Personal Attributes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working hours and locations
Other Requirements
- Suitable for working with children and vulnerable adults (clear record required)
