Location: Newtownards

Pay Rate: £15.88 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Hybrid Working: 3 days office / 2 days home (following training)

Travel: Role requires travel to other SEHSCT sites. Applicants must hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a busy finance team within SEHSCT. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong analytical skills and advanced Excel knowledge to support financial management, budget monitoring and reporting across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with senior Trust staff to provide financial advice and support on budgets and related queries.
  • Assist with the annual budget-setting process, ensuring budgets align with financial strategy and income profiles.
  • Support the development of efficiency, recovery and contingency plans for directorates.
  • Identify financial risks and assist in implementing corrective actions to help achieve financial targets.
  • Support the development and improvement of financial systems, reporting tools and working practices.
  • Produce financial reports and respond to ad hoc enquiries from Senior Finance Managers and Trust staff.
  • Assist with management accounts, budget monitoring and variance analysis.

Criteria for Application:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Degree and 2 years' relevant financial experience; OR
  • AAT/HND qualified with 2 years' relevant financial experience; OR
  • Part-qualified with a CCAB-recognised body and 1 year's relevant financial experience; OR
  • 3 years' relevant financial experience at Band 4 level.

Additionally, candidates should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including analysis of large datasets
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments
  • Experience of management accounts and investigating variances (desirable)
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
