About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Antrim. Working under the supervision of Senior Assistants, Technicians, and Pharmacists, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficient, and responsive pharmacy service to meet customer and patient needs.

Training & Development

The successful candidate may be required to undertake the Pearson Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff, delivered at South Eastern Regional College (Bangor/Lisburn campus) one day per month over 12 months. Additional self-directed study will also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, check, and store pharmacy stock in line with SOPs
  • Accurately process deliveries using the EPIC system
  • Support ward “top-up” services, including stock rotation and expiry management
  • Assemble and distribute ward orders, requisitions, and bulk issues
  • Maintain pharmacy stock levels and assist with stock checks
  • Provide excellent customer service at reception and via telephone
  • Dispense and pre-pack medicines in line with procedures
  • Assist with supply and distribution of pharmaceuticals, dressings, and vaccines
  • Deliver medications and supplies to wards and departments
  • Process returned stock in accordance with procedures
  • Support aseptic unit cleaning and preparation
  • Operate pharmacy robotic systems (training provided)
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, infection control, and medicines regulations
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Essential Criteria

5 GCSEs (Grade A–G), including English Language and Mathematics (Grade C or above) OR NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Support. Candidates without the Level 2 qualification will be required to complete it if successful.
