We are currently recruiting for a Staff Officer based in Newry. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 6 Months with a possibility of extension

Rate of pay: £19.59

Hours of work: Full time 9 – 5pm Mon to Fri

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist with the development and delivery of communication plans (staff & stakeholder), consulting with, and providing updates to Rural Affairs Division (RAD) Management, liaising with relevant branches across the Department to ascertain best practice, and utilising alternative communication methods.
  • The postholder may be required to provide secretariat arrangements for staff and stakeholder forums.

Main Duties:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of a communications strategy within RAD.
  • Writing engaging content for a range of internal and external communication channels.
  • Building relationships and providing communications advice and support across teams.

Essential Criteria applicants must have:

  • Proof of a degree certificate
  • Ownership and initiative – Demonstrable ability to proactively take ownership of work, progress tasks independently, and engage appropriately with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
  • Digital productivity tools – Proven experience in the effective use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and video conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Digital communication skills – Ability to select and use appropriate digital and technology based communication tools to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of audiences.
  • Project / campaign delivery – Experience of project or campaign management, including liaising with different departments or delivery leads to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Customer service experience – Experience of providing customer focused services, including interacting with individuals and businesses and monitoring progress to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Mobility - Access to a mode of travel to facilitate attendance at meetings or other locations as required.
  • Experience of supporting or coordinating public facing, corporate or organisational communications, with an understanding of accuracy, tone and reputational considerations.
  • Digital awareness – Good basic understanding of digital channels and communication tools, including how they operate and how they can be used to support business objectives.
  • A degree with a minimum of 12 months’ experience
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to use own initiative.
