We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic

Library Cleaner to join our team. The successful candidate will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for library staff, visitors, and members of the public.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleaning library floors, carpets, and walkways.
  • Dusting and wiping shelves, desks, furniture, and other surfaces.
  • Cleaning toilets, washrooms, and kitchen/staff facilities.
  • Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies and hygiene products.
  • Cleaning doors, windows, glass panels, and fixtures as required.
  • Ensuring public areas remain clean and presentable throughout working hours.
  • Following health and safety procedures and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Reporting maintenance issues, damage, or health and safety concerns to management.
  • Locking/unlocking areas where required and ensuring security procedures are followed.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous cleaning experience in a commercial, public sector, educational, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and cleaning products.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good time management and reliability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and members of the public.
  • A flexible approach to duties and working arrangements.
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks associated with cleaning duties.
  • Previous experience cleaning libraries, schools, offices, or public buildings.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Experience using floor cleaning machinery and equipment.
