Our client, a large public sector organisation based in the Belfast City Airport area, is looking for 4 Agriculture Inspectors to join their team.
Duration: Initially expected to last for 6 months with an option to extend.
Rate of pay: £17.57; Saturday: £25.46; Sunday: £33.34 (the rates above include a Shift Disturbance Allowance of 11%).
Location: Belfast City Airport. Staff may also be required to perform duties at Belfast International, City of Derry Airport, and various courier depots around the country.
Hours: Full Time shift work consisting of early and late shifts.
Early Shift: 07:00-15:00 (includes a 60-minute handover).
Late Shift: 14:00-22:00 (includes a 60-minute handover). Shift patterns may be subject to change, determined by business needs.
Main Duties:
- Carrying out checks on passengers' baggage at airports to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves questioning arriving passengers and searching their baggage.
- Carrying out checks on airline freight, which involves checking documents and inspecting consignments.
- Carrying out checks on parcels/packages at courier/mail warehouses to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves identifying parcels, opening and searching them, and removing non-compliant consignments.
- Carrying out health checks on pets moving through airports into Northern Ireland. The inspector will seize non-compliant consignments and will serve official notices.
Essential Criteria:
- Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have at least 2 GCSE/GCE 'O' levels at Grade C (English and Mathematics) AND a Level 3 Work-based Diploma in Agriculture OR a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture.
- At least 3 months' experience gained within the last 5 years of working with livestock. Livestock is defined as agricultural animals, the main species being cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and poultry.
- A full valid UK driving licence continuously held for the last 3 years.
Examples of equivalent qualifications to English and Mathematics GCSE/GCE would be Essential Skills 2. Examples of equivalent qualifications include a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 in Livestock or Crop Production, a BTEC National Diploma in Agriculture, a College Diploma in Agriculture, an Advanced Diploma in Agriculture, or a National Certificate in Agriculture along with a relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification.
