Duration : 4th of October, with possibility of extension

Location : CAFRE Enniskillen Campus, 2 Mullaghmeen Road, Levaghy, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, BT74 4GF

Job Duties

The main duties of the post will include

  • Carrying out day-to-day equine duties associated with the equine enterprises (breeding, equitation and racing) and the campus facilities (education and residential properties).
  • Recording information (for example electronic data) relating to the equine enterprises.
  • Supervising and recording student performance while students are carrying out practical duties.
  • Complying with all CAFRE Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with other general estate/farm duties as required.
  • Driving duties which will include driving departmental vehicles.
  • Assisting in duties associated with CAFRE knowledge transfer, events and other activities which may be located off campus.

Qualifications

  • A formal equine qualification to at least Level 2, e. g. NVQ level 2, British Horse Society Stage 2, Level 2 Diploma in Horse care, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years, full time equivalent, experience of horse husbandry, including grooming and the practical use of a broad range of items of horse tack when working in an equine yard.
  • A full, current driving license enabling the license holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
  • Desired Experience
  • A driving licence entitling the person to tow a trailer (Category B+E).
  • City & Guilds or NPTC Certificate in Competence in Livestock Transportation (Short Journeys).
