Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Band 6 Radiographer to join our imaging team at Ulster Hospital. The post holder will:

  • Deliver a high-quality, evidence-based CT service
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
  • Participate in a 7-day working rota
  • Support the supervision and training of junior staff, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers
  • Undertake a structured CT training programme (if required), demonstrating flexibility and commitment to professional development

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Delivery

  • Perform a wide range of CT and general radiographic examinations to a high diagnostic standard
  • Demonstrate competence in CT imaging procedures and assist with interventional imaging where required
  • Make informed clinical decisions based on professional knowledge and experience
  • Work closely with the CT Lead Radiographer to support workflow and daily operations
  • Assess patient understanding and obtain informed consent, adhering to legal frameworks where patients lack capacity
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and carers, ensuring individual needs are met
  • Comply with Ionising Radiation Regulations (NI) 2017 and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (NI) 2018
  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of imaging equipment
  • Oversee the ordering and management of medicines/drugs in line with Trust policy, including countersigning where required
  • Uphold a high standard of clinical practice and professionalism
  • Participate in audit, reflective practice, and risk management to maintain service quality

Essential Criteria

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a hospital setting with modern imaging modalities, including CT
  • At least 1 year of experience in CT imaging, covering a broad range of examinations (Shortlisting by application form)

Qualifications and Registration

  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography, or equivalent qualification recognised by the HCPC
  • Current HCPC registration (Shortlisting by application form)

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to participate in flexible working arrangements, including evenings and weekends, bank holidays, shift rota / on-call / out-of-hours work, and cross-site working as required
