We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a busy Finance & Estates Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual to contribute to the effective delivery of financial services within a public sector environment.

Pay Rate: £12.75 per hour

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Location: Downpatrick

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide a wide range of administrative and financial support, ensuring the efficient operation of systems and processes within the department. You will play a key role in supporting financial governance, maintaining accurate records, and assisting stakeholders across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Trust’s Financial Governance Framework
  • Process financial information in line with policies and deadlines
  • Investigate queries and provide support to financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Assist with reconciliations of control accounts
  • Support compliance with Public Sector Prompt Payment Policy
  • Maintain accurate financial records and databases
  • Input, monitor and validate financial data with a high level of accuracy
  • Produce reports, manage spreadsheets, and use internal systems
  • Assist with workload planning to meet financial deadlines
  • Handle large volumes of cash and coin where required
  • Provide administrative support including:
    • Managing emails and correspondence
    • Arranging meetings and appointments
    • Taking minutes
    • Maintaining filing systems
    • General office duties (photocopying, scanning, etc.)
  • Supervise staff and allocate work when necessary
  • Order stationery and support day-to-day office operations
  • Participate in training, development, and appraisal processes
  • Support the Director of Finance & Estates in maintaining effective financial control and contributing to financial strategy and planning

Essential Criteria

  • 4 GCSEs (Grade A–C) including English and Maths and at least 1 year’s relevant experience OR Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Relevant experience must include:
    • Working with computerised financial systems
    • Experience of financial procedures in a busy finance office
    • Numerical calculations and data handling
