We are recruiting a Higher Clerical Officer to join our client in Derry/Londonderry. £***** per hour, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. Immediate starts for 2 months initially.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who wants to play an important role in supporting young people and professionals within a busy, dynamic team.

About the Role

The Higher Clerical Officer will provide essential administrative and reception support. This includes direct interface with service users, organising office systems, managing correspondence, maintaining records, and supporting staff across the service. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, supporting meetings, producing documents, and handling financial procedures such as petty cash and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reception duties and act as first point of contact for service users
  • Deliver full administrative support to the team and associated professionals
  • Arrange diary dates, meetings, venues, travel and hospitality
  • Take minutes when required
  • Maintain filing systems and manage office organisation
  • Draft routine letters, handle mail, and manage correspondence
  • Liaise with staff, departments, external agencies, and the public
  • Handle telephone enquiries and take appropriate action
  • Produce letters, memorandums, minutes, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Support policy production and statistical reporting
  • Manage stationery stock levels
  • Update and search information on databases (e.g., SOSCARE)
  • Operate petty cash in line with policy
  • Assist with financial reconciliations
  • Participate in training and development as required

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following (clearly state this on your CV):

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C) including English Language
  • 1 year administrative/clerical experience (Experience must include cash handling)
  • OR NVQ Level II in Business
