We are currently recruiting a Laboratory Attendant for our client based in Loughrey Campus, Cookstown. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork and ANI are completed.
Start date: ASAP
Rate of pay: £13.41PH
Duration: Until 3/29/2026 with possible extension
Hours of work: 37 (Part time hours considered)
Key Responsibilities:
- The primary role of the Laboratory Attendant is to maintain the laboratory in a clean and tidy state and assist scientific staff with experimental work as required.
- Maintaining the laboratory facilities in a clean and tidy state, including the cleaning of laboratory equipment, worktops, cupboards, fridges, freezers, glassware and safe disposal of contaminated waste.
- Assisting in experimental laboratory work, including the preparation of laboratory media and preparation of laboratory samples.
- Maintaining stocks of chemicals, media and other consumable supplies within the laboratories.
- Following COSHH and Health and Safety requirements in undertaking all laboratory duties.
- This list is not exhaustive and the successful candidate will be required to carry out other duties as allocated by management.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (Proof of certs required).
- Have studied and passed a science subject, which includes laboratory work, to at least GCSE/GCE “O” level standard.
- Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered by the selection panel to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
- Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
