Pharmacy Stores Assistant

Location: Antrim

Hours: 15 hours per week

Contract: Temporary – 6 months (in the first instance)

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Pharmacy Stores Assistant to support the efficient running of the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution Service. The successful candidate will assist the Senior Pharmacy Assistant (Stores Supervisor) in managing stock, ensuring accurate handling of deliveries, and contributing to a high-quality service across pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and check deliveries, ensuring prompt and accurate storage using pharmacy systems
  • Maintain delivery records and paperwork, resolving discrepancies effectively
  • Support supplier returns, including credits, replacements, and uplifts
  • Assemble and distribute pharmaceutical stock for ward orders, requisitions, and bulk issues
  • Assist in dispensing and distributing bulk IV fluids and procedure packs
  • Participate in stock picking, packing, and issuing in line with SOPs and transport schedules
  • Transport pharmacy items to wards and departments (Antrim and Holywell sites) using a designated van (subject to driving assessment)
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety within Pharmacy Stores
  • Ensure correct storage of stock, including refrigerated and special handling items
  • Participate in stock control, bin maintenance, and expiry date checks
  • Assist with audits, documentation, and updating of procedures
  • Dispose of waste appropriately, including special waste
  • Follow Health & Safety, COSHH regulations, and safe working practices
  • Use and maintain equipment appropriately

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a warehouse/stores assistant OR 5 GCSEs (A–G) or equivalent, including English and Maths (Grade C or above)

Additional Essential Requirements

  • Full, current UK driving licence with access to a car (reasonable adjustments apply for disabilities)
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks (lifting, unpacking, stock movement)
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, email)
  • Good general health to meet the physical demands of the role
  • Satisfactory attendance record
