We are recruiting a Band 3 Admin Assistant to provide frontline clerical support on a busy hospital ward. This role involves handling patient enquiries, managing records, updating Patient Centre, booking appointments, liaising with clinical teams, and supporting smooth ward operations. You must be able to work under pressure, manage your own workload and communicate confidently with staff, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ward reception duties & handling phone enquiries
  • Updating Patient Centre: admissions, discharges & transfers
  • Managing patient charts and ward round documentation
  • Booking, cancelling & rebooking outpatient appointments
  • Liaising with Consultants, nursing staff, secretaries & Health Records
  • Booking interpreters, patient transport & Access Clinics
  • General admin tasks (filing, photocopying, scanning, stationery orders)
  • Supporting new ward clerks and providing cover when required

Essential Criteria

  • 4 GCSEs A-C including English
  • 2 years’ clerical/administrative experience
  • Competent in Microsoft Word
