An expanding construction consultancy is growing its residential surveying and neighbourly matters service across Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. We are seeking a Senior Building Surveyor with strong Party Wall experience to play a leading role in developing and shaping this specialist offering. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor seeking more than routine reporting; someone who enjoys technical problem solving, client responsibility, autonomy and commercial involvement.
You will lead from the front, supported by junior staff and an established multidisciplinary construction consultancy team, with genuine scope to help grow the surveying division into a recognised regional specialist service.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering and leading a high-value residential surveying workload, including:
- Acting as Party Wall Surveyor (Building Owner, Adjoining Owner and Agreed Surveyor roles)
- Preparing and serving Party Wall Notices, Schedules of Condition and Awards
- Undertaking RICS Level 3 Building Surveys
- Producing defect and building pathology reports (damp, cracking, structural movement, workmanship issues, extensions, etc.)
- Advising homeowners, investors, architects and solicitors on technical and statutory matters
- Managing client relationships with confidence and professionalism
- Supporting and mentoring Assistant / Graduate Surveyors
- Contributing to service development, referral relationships and process improvement
About You
Essential
- MRICS / AssocRICS qualified (or actively working towards qualification)
- Strong experience working under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996
- Background in residential building surveying
- Experience preparing and negotiating Party Wall Awards
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and common defects
- Professional, calm and authoritative client-facing manner
Desirable
- Membership of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors, Pyramus & Thisbe Club, or similar professional body
- Experience working with older and altered residential properties
- Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff
- Commercial awareness and pride in delivering high-quality work
