Salary: £58,000 + Company Car or £5,000 Car Allowance + Comprehensive Benefits The Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Enquiries Consultant to join a well-established and growing team of tax specialists.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with strong direct tax knowledge and experience handling HMRC enquiries to work remotely within a collaborative and highly regarded consultancy environment.

The successful candidate will support a broad client base of accountancy firms, from sole practitioners through to Top 100 practices, providing expert advice and consultancy across all aspects of direct tax enquiries.

Key Responsibilities Manage a varied caseload of insured and uninsured Income Tax and Corporation Tax enquiry cases.

Prepare technical reports and written consultancy advice.

Provide technical support and strategic guidance to accountants and tax advisers.

Draft correspondence to HMRC and prepare technical opinions where required.

Take full ownership of enquiry cases, liaising directly with HMRC through to resolution.

Attend Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) meetings where appropriate.

Support Tribunal case preparation, with representation opportunities depending on experience.

Conduct technical research and prepare detailed assignments.

Keep up to date with changes in direct tax legislation and HMRC practice.

Review reports and provide technical second opinions.

Contribute technical content to support business development and marketing initiatives.

Ensure compliance with internal procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering requirements.

About You You'll have: A strong background in UK Direct Tax gained within accountancy practice, industry or HMRC.

Experience managing HMRC enquiry work.

A recognised professional tax or accounting qualification, or equivalent experience.

Excellent technical knowledge of Income Tax and Corporation Tax.

Strong report writing and communication skills.

The ability to manage multiple cases independently while working effectively within a team.

A proactive, commercially aware and client-focused approach.
