We are currently recruiting for a Hardlines Technician to join a busy and growing Testing department, working within a specialist laboratory based in Leigh. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of a wide range of consumer products through accurate and timely testing. You will support testing across product categories such as toys, electrical accessories, furniture, DIY tools, kitchenware, and other durable consumer goods. You will follow established methodologies, operate specialised equipment, and ensure all results are recorded to the highest standard within a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Pay Rate: £12.77 per hour

Job type: Ongoing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out testing in line with customer requirements, company procedures, and accreditation standards
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), recognised test methods (e.g., EN, ISO, ASTM), and internal quality protocols
  • Accurately record, analyse, and input data
  • Ensure all work meets required turnaround times and quality standards
  • Manage samples effectively, including booking in and tracking
  • Maintain laboratory equipment checks and environmental records (e.g. temperature logs)
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations
