RecruitLab is working with a growing Building Services Engineering contractor that delivers high-quality mechanical and HVAC solutions across commercial, industrial, retail and residential sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, the business is looking to appoint an experienced HVAC Project Manager to join their team. The company currently operates with a small but highly experienced team, and they are looking for someone who can play an important role in delivering projects while supporting the business as it continues to grow substantially over the next few years.

Role Overview

The HVAC Project Manager will be responsible for managing mechanical building services and HVAC projects from project handover through to completion and client handover. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical services and HVAC systems, alongside the ability to manage subcontractors, project programmes, and client relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery
    • Managing HVAC and mechanical building services projects from design coordination through to commissioning and handover
    • Ensuring projects are delivered on programme and within budget
    • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
    • Monitoring project progress and resolving issues where required
  • Technical Oversight
    • Reviewing mechanical drawings, schematics and technical specifications
    • Overseeing installation of systems including: HVAC systems, Ventilation systems, Heating and chilled water systems, Air conditioning systems, Domestic water and gas services, Building energy management systems (BMS)
    • Providing technical guidance to installation teams
  • Commercial Management
    • Supporting project cost control and financial reporting
    • Managing subcontractor procurement and packages
    • Identifying and managing variations and changes
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Attending site meetings, design meetings and project reviews
    • Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants and main contractors
    • Providing regular project progress updates

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience working as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer within HVAC or Mechanical Building Services
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical services and HVAC systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Knowledge of building services standards and regulations
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial projects
