The Role
As a Healthcare Assistant / Technician, you'll work across a variety of treatment areas, from outpatient assessments to day surgery recovery and non-invasive treatments. Every day is different, and your contribution will be felt across the full patient journey. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and theatres for minor surgical procedures
- Assist with pre- and post-operative patient care, including observations and documentation
- Assist with ophthalmic diagnostics such as visual fields, OCT, and biometry
- Support Consultant-led clinics in all specialties and provide chaperone support
- Conduct basic clinical assessments: vital signs, BMI, swabs, allergy checks, and more
- Liaise with surgeons, nurses, and aestheticians to ensure efficient and smooth clinic flow
- Maintain stock levels, infection control procedures, and equipment readiness
- Provide emotional and practical support to patients throughout their visit
About You
- Experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Technician in private healthcare or hospital outpatient settings
- Excellent patient communication and teamworking skills
- Comfortable supporting across surgical, diagnostic, and aesthetic treatment areas
- A calm, professional manner suited to a high-end, client-sensitive environment
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience in outpatient ophthalmology clinics, particularly with visual fields, OCT, and diagnostic testing
- Experience in aesthetic, cosmetic, or ENT clinic environments
- Understanding of CQC standards, infection control, safeguarding, and patient confidentiality
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems (e.g. Pabau, Cliniko, EMIS)
