Architect / Architectural Technologist

London | Salary up to £60,000, depending on experience | Flexible working

RGP is looking for an experienced Architect or Architectural Technologist with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience to join our friendly, London practice. This is an opportunity to take ownership of varied commercial projects from initial design through to completion, working closely with our hands-on directors and skilled in house team.

Our portfolio spans a range of commercial sectors, including industrial, retail and refurbishment projects. You’ll have the scope to contribute your ideas, develop your skills and make a visible difference to the work we do.

The role

Working collaboratively with a director, you’ll manage projects through the relevant RIBA stages. Depending on the project, you’ll work independently or as part of a team, and liaise directly with clients, consultants, contractors and manufacturers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing designs and preparing submissions for planning approval and Building Regulations consent.
  • Producing detailed designs, working drawings and NBS specifications.
  • Coordinating CDM requirements and keeping up to date with relevant building legislation.
  • Overseeing work on site, including carrying out site inspections.
  • Monitoring project progress against agreed budgets and deadlines, and reporting to a director.
  • Many of our projects are outside London, so the role will involve travel.

About you

You’ll be either a RIBA Part III-qualified, ARB-registered Architect or an MCIAT Architectural Technologist. You’ll also bring:

  • At least five years’ post-qualification experience, including a minimum of five years’ UK experience in building design.
  • Strong CAD skills and substantial experience producing technical information across a range of projects.
  • Experience of commercial buildings, including contemporary new-build and refurbishment design-and-build projects.
  • Experience across a variety of RIBA stages, with a practical approach to construction detailing.
  • Good design and presentation skills, and knowledge of UK Building Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, NBS and Microsoft 365. Advanced knowledge of Revit would be beneficial.
  • A collaborative, approachable manner and the confidence to take responsibility for your work.
  • You must be based in the UK and able to demonstrate your eligibility to work here.
  • A driving licence would be an advantage.

What we offer

  • Salary commensurate with experience, +/-£60,000 per annum.
  • The position is office based, although home-working arrangements and flexible hours can be discussed and considered.
  • Monthly gym membership contribution.
  • A family friendly, supportive team where you can bring fresh ideas and continue to develop your career.

Location

Our office is close to Gray’s Inn Square, with Holborn and Chancery Lane stations nearby.
