RGP are looking for an experienced Architect or an Architectural Technologist with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, strong Revit skills and a working knowledge of retail, industrial and mixed use commercial projects. We are a well-established medium-sized London-based practice, with a varied portfolio of work across a diverse range of commercial sectors. We are a close friendly team of hands‑on Directors, Architects and skilled Technicians.
Your role requires that you take on responsibility for projects from start to finish, including preparing drawings and specifications, working collaboratively with a director. For some projects, you will be required to liaise directly with clients, consultants and contractors; or on others working collaboratively within an in‑house team.
Roles & Responsibilities- Working on numerous projects at all stages from inception to completion
- Preparing designs and submission for planning approval, building regulation consent
- Ensuring CDM requirements are satisfied
- Preparing detailed designs, working drawings and NBS specifications
- Overseeing projects on site including site inspections
- Maintaining an up‑to‑date knowledge of the latest statutory building legislation
- Ensure that the running of the project is kept within set financial goals and deadlines
- Working alone or within a small team as projects require
- Reporting to the Director on project progress
- Many projects are outside of London and will require travel.
- RIBA Part III Qualified, ARB registered, Architect or CIAT qualification, or a university degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years’ UK work experience in a building design capacity, including extensive experience of production information on a range of projects
- Good design and presentational skills
- An understanding of working on commercial buildings
- Experience of working on contemporary new and refurbishment design and build projects
- Experience of working through a variety of RIBA stages
- Able to demonstrate a practical approach and experience of construction detailing
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations
- Good IT skills and working knowledge of Office 365, NBS Chorus and AutoCad/Revit, Microstation skills would be advantageous.
- Have a friendly approach and a willingness to work as a team player.
- A willingness to absorb our culture and extend your skills whilst bringing fresh ideas and experience to our practice making a difference and contributing towards your career progression
- Applicant must be based in the UK and be able to show evidence of eligibility to work in the UK
- A driving license would be advantageous
Our office is located close to Grays Inn Square and Holborn/Chancery Lane tube stations. We are a family friendly practice and are fully set up for remote working and can discuss flexible working hours if this is suitable. Salary subject to experience.
