Omnichannel Systems Administrator – Linux – The Range

As a result of our expansion plans and our continued success we are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.
About the RoleAre you a skilled Linux Systems Administrator with a passion for secure, high‐performance infrastructure? We\’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable individual to join our IT team. In this role, you\’ll manage and optimise our Linux‐based systems (primarily Red Hat / CentOS), support Windows environments, and ensure compliance with security standards like PCI DSS. You\’ll also work across hybrid cloud environments, especially AWS, and collaborate with cross‐functional teams to maintain a stable and scalable infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments
Provide support for Windows workstations as needed
Monitor system performance, availability, and security
Troubleshoot networking issues across the TCP/IP stack
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
Apply security patches and updates in line with compliance standards
Support cloud infrastructure, storage, and networking (AWS)
Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures
Maintain documentation, change logs, and asset inventories
Ensure PCI DSS compliance and participate in incident response
Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
35 years of Linux systems administration (Red Hat / CentOS)
Experience with Windows environments
Strong networking knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent)
Familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
Understanding of PCI DSS and secure system practices
Proficiency in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
RHCSA or higher certification
CCNA certification or equivalent experience
Experience with monitoring tools and configuration management
Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM)
Exposure to security hardening and vulnerability management
