We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Nursery Manager to support the Nursery Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the setting. The successful candidate will help lead the team, maintain high standards of care and education, ensure compliance, and contribute to a positive, welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager in leading, motivating, and developing the staff team
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting a professional and inclusive culture
  • Assist with staff supervision, appraisals, coaching, and ongoing development
  • Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence
  • Support the smooth daily running of the nursery
  • Assist with managing staffing ratios, rotas, and room organisation
  • Ensure effective administrative and operational systems are followed
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and well-resourced environment
  • Uphold and promote compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, safeguarding, and health & safety requirements
  • Support the monitoring of practice, planning, and curriculum delivery across rooms
  • Assist in preparing the setting for Ofsted inspections
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (or support the DSL team)
  • Build warm, professional relationships with parents and carers
  • Support with parent enquiries, feedback, and concerns
  • Contribute to a welcoming, community-focused nursery environment
  • Support occupancy growth and retention
  • Assist with administrative tasks linked to budgets, invoicing, and cost control
  • Promote the Rainbow Tots ethos and values to families and the wider community

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification
  • Strong experience working in an early years setting
  • Experience in a senior practitioner, room leader, or deputy role
  • Solid understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding procedures
  • Desirable Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education
  • Experience supporting or leading Ofsted inspections
  • Understanding of nursery operations, occupancy, and administrative processes
  • Paediatric 12hr First Aid certificate
