Overview
We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Elderly Medical Team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The post holder will work as part of an integrated team as an autonomous practitioner to provide a high standard of intervention across the elderly and frailty specialties.
The integrated team is committed to highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within elderly and frailty settings. The post holder will work alongside colleagues as an independent practitioner, applying a high level of clinical reasoning to ensure individualised, proactive and holistic assessment and treatment planning. You will work as a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, where excellent communication is essential.
There will be opportunities for innovation and involvement in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the team. The integrated Rehabilitation Service aims to provide a progressive, forward-thinking approach to patient care while supporting staff development and continuing education and training.

Responsibilities
- Provide high-standard occupational therapy interventions across elderly and frailty specialities as part of an integrated team.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner with high level clinical reasoning to deliver individualised, proactive and holistic assessment and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain excellent communication on the wards.
- Support and develop rotational Band 5 therapists; supervise therapy support staff and educate therapy students on placement.
- Participate in quality improvement and innovation projects to develop the team.
- Contribute to the Trust’s digital transformation initiatives, including implementation of the new electronic patient record (EPR) from 2026.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Band 6 Occupational Therapist
- Proactive and enthusiastic with experience in elderly medical settings
- Ability to provide high-quality clinical reasoning and holistic care
- Experience supervising Band 5 therapists, therapy support staff and students
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
