Job Title: Finance Manager – New QEH

The Finance Manager – New QEH will provide an efficient and proactive financial management service to the New QEH Programme, playing a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and success of the project.

Background

The New Hospital Programme (NHP) is the largest hospital improvement initiative in a generation, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). It offers a significant opportunity to rebuild our hospital, with a redevelopment valued at approximately £900m, making it the biggest infrastructure project in Kings Lynn in generations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting & Budget Management
    • Prepare and present accurate financial reports in compliance with NHS regulations and aligned with Trust and NHP frameworks.
    • Monitor budgets, analyze expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
    • Develop financial forecasts to support the programme’s long-term goals.
  2. Capital Budget Management
    • Manage enabling funds and oversee expenditures ensuring transparency and compliance.
    • Supervise the Main Works Capital Budget, ensuring proper audit trails.
    • Identify risks, savings opportunities, and provide financial recommendations.
  3. Staff Budget Management
    • Handle staff budgets confidentially, aligned with salary bands.
    • Coordinate payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  4. Collaboration & Support
    • Support the Head of PMO with financial guidance.
    • Coordinate with Trust Finance to ensure governance compliance.
    • Oversee procurement budgets and controls.
  5. Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure adherence to NHS financial policies and regulations.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks proactively.
  6. Continuous Improvement & Development
    • Optimize financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.
    • Embed modern financial practices and stay updated through ongoing training.
