Overview Of Role
FCMS, a social enterprise for health and wellbeing services, is seeking a dedicated and forward‑thinking Information Governance (IG) Lead to ensure information is handled securely, legally and effectively. This hands‑on role promotes awareness, delivers staff training and embeds good IG practices, reinforcing a positive IG culture across FCMS.
- Design and deliver engaging staff training to raise awareness of IG, Data Protection, Confidentiality and Records Management.
- Chair IG and information asset owner working groups, creating agendas, minutes and action plans; oversee policies and frameworks in line with NHS, ICO and regulatory standards.
- Assist with IG audits and compliance checks, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.
- Support processing of SARs, FOI requests and data protection complaints; manage records management processes including retention, disposal and data quality audits.
- Review data/security breaches or incidents, produce reports, shape response protocols and business continuity plans.
- Support the review of DSAs/DPAs, DPIAs and information‑related contract clauses; liaise with internal and external parties on data handling and compliance.
- Contribute to cyber security reviews within DPIA processes, identify vulnerabilities and strengthen defenses across digital systems and people.
- Act as the conduit between external ICT services and FCMS, escalating issues and supporting policy‑based access controls.
Other Duties Are Required
The role is evolving and may change via discussion with line managers and relevant stakeholders. The post holder will also cover reception desk and administrative tasks at Newfield House during unplanned absences, and any other duties as delegated by the Head of Quality and Risk.
