The Psychology Consultancy UK Ltd is a growing independent provider of psychological services to corporate and public sector clients and the general public. We operate with a small, friendly team of passionate and caring psychologists, supported by an assistant psychologist. We deliver our services in a person-centred way, ensuring that every individual—client or team member—feels genuinely seen, heard, and valued. Our approach is founded on fostering trust, dignity, and real connection, creating space for thoughtful, compassionate, and tailored support.

We are delighted to be able to offer opportunities for clinical/counselling psychologists in our post traumatic stress (PTSD) specialist service. The Role involves recruiting for a combined total of 1.6 WTE sessions (1.0 WTE based in Ipswich and 0.6 WTE based in Norwich) to support the delivery of a contracted service providing psychological treatment for PTSD to a major public sector client. You will be responsible for providing assessment and treatment to individuals (predominantly first responders) referred via their employers’ occupational health service.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Trauma Assessment: Conducting initial eligibility assessments involving clinically screening for PTSD and reporting back to the employer whether the individual meets the contracted criteria.
  • Specialist Treatment: Providing treatment covering both incident-based trauma and complex trauma. This includes delivering evidence-based treatment adapted for traumatic stress, such as CBT, ACT, EMDR therapy, and Somatic-based therapies. Treatment sessions are mostly face to face, but remote sessions are also available, based on patient preference.
  • Together with the rest of the team, you will be co-responsible for the smooth running of the service in our various clinics.

A more comprehensive job description is available to applicants on request.

Essential criteria:

  • Registered with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist in either clinical or counselling psychology and in good standing with all relevant professional bodies.
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
  • At least two years post-qualification experience is required. If you have less than the required amount of experience, we are still willing to consider your application and may offer you a development post.
  • Trauma Training: Prior training in at least one model of therapy with an evidence base for trauma, such as CBT or EMDR.
  • Mobility: Must be able to travel between the Ipswich and Norwich sites. Travel to the Ipswich office will be required for the Norwich post, especially initially for meetings and training.
  • This post requires an Enhanced DBS check as well as Police Vetting.

Personal Characteristics & Notes:

We are looking for a self-starter who is enthusiastic, flexible, and committed. You must be able to manage the stress of the role and effectively utilize supervision. While we seek experienced candidates, we would be willing to consider exceptional newly qualified candidates or those currently in Band 7 posts, with the potential to restructure the role to include a development package.

Benefits of Joining our Team:

  • A welcoming and friendly team environment with the chance to grow and develop with the business.
  • The opportunity to develop specialist clinical skills.
  • The ability to make a profound difference to the lives of your patients and their families.
  • The chance to grow as a professional and to develop as a leader.
  • Opportunities to receive mentoring and to contribute to the development of colleagues.
  • Potential career development opportunities over time.
