Security and Pastoral Officer

South Yorkshire FE College

37 hours per week - Temporary position for 3 months cover.

£14.24 per hour (including holiday pay)

Protocol are working with a client based in Doncaster who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Security and Pastoral Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background in security who is passionate about supporting young people and helping to maintain a safe, secure and positive learning environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors across the college campus, whilst also providing pastoral support where required.

  • Maintain a visible security presence across the campus.
  • Monitor and respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns and security breaches.
  • Operate and monitor CCTV systems in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Support students with pastoral and welfare-related issues where appropriate.
  • Assist with managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Conduct routine security patrols of buildings and grounds.
  • Liaise with safeguarding teams, staff and external agencies as required.
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Support emergency procedures and evacuation processes when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a security role.
  • Experience working within an educational setting or with young and/or vulnerable people is highly desirable.
  • Hold a valid SIA Licence.
  • Hold a CCTV Operator Licence/qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Hold a DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
