The Protocol Group is working with a client in South Yorkshire seeking a proactive and dedicated Engineering Technician (Fabrication & Welding) to support the delivery of practical engineering programmes and help develop the next generation of skilled engineers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with industry experience who enjoys a hands-on environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining high-quality workshop facilities, supporting learners, and contributing to the continued development of our Engineering provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, assessments and demonstrations.
- Support tutors and students during workshop sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Maintain machinery, equipment and workshop facilities to a high standard.
- Distribute and monitor tools, consumables and equipment.
- Manage stock levels and order replacement materials where required.
- Ensure workshops remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Support departmental projects and collaborate with colleagues across different curriculum areas.
- Assist with workshop security and report any loss or damage of equipment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working within the Fabrication & Welding industry.
- A Level 2 qualification or above in a relevant Fabrication & Welding discipline.
- A strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive, team-focused approach and a passion for supporting learners.
- Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to work towards these qualifications).
